Language to Express Care & Concern

Special COVID-tips:

  • People feel isolated, use language that creates a sense of belonging and togetherness
  • Try to avoid “I” and focus on using collective language (e.g. “Here’swhat our team is facing”)

Example language to use:

  • We know this is a tough time
  • We are in an extraordinary time
  • Our hearts go out
  • I wish statements:
    • I wish things were different
    • I wish we had more
  • We will do everything we can
  • We are here for you
  • Our primary concern is
  • It is our hope that
  • We want to share
  • We are deeply grateful for your support
  • We’re listening
  • We are deeply saddened (use: if an employee passes away)
